An unexpected, princess-themed birthday party has ruined your day at the park. Hurry up and collect all of your toys so that you can escape before one of the girls gives you cooties. They're pretty quick, so be careful, and don't be afraid to throw your ball at them if you need to. That should knock them down on their butt just long enough for you to sneak by.

Cooties was developed as part of a tutorial that I designed to illustrate how to produce games for Android using RFO Basic! It began after a post on the RFO Basic! forum asked whether the animated graphics for a platform game was possible using RFO Basic!
At first I just planned to demonstrate touch controls to move an animated character. Then I decided to add scrolling and an enemy. With enemies came the need to attack, and a silly idea for a weapon lead to an equally silly theme for the game. After putting so much work into a quirky project that I actually enjoyed playing, I decided to expand my tutorial and polish the game to its current shine.
The following tools were used to develop Cooties using only an RCA Viking Pro 2-in-1 Android laptop:
RFO Basic! - Source code edited and tested in this free basic interpreter for Android
Basic! Compiler - APK compiled by this 3$ app
Ivy Draw - All graphics were designed in this great vector graphics app that costs 6$ to register
WavePad - most sounds were recorded from my voice and processed in this 10$ app
SFXR - a few retro style sound effects were generated by this open source app available for most platforms
OmniNotes - this opensource note taking app was used to document agendas and to track bugs
DroidEdit - associated text files edited in this free app
Cooties is public domain and may be freely used, distributed, and modified with the following exceptions. One, I reserve the exclusive right to distribute it where software is bought or sold. Two, derivative work may not use the name of Cooties.
